Artist Statement
I use film to explore my questions of the world. Through film I get to discover unique perspectives that lead me to more questions. Most of my questions are about dissecting power structures and the people with in them. Power structures have a lot of moving parts. My films are about capturing those moving parts and merging them together to tell a story. This process challenges my work ethic, creativity, and synergy. Working with others to fulfill a common goal is the most gratifying feeling to me as an artist. Practicing analytics and motivating a team is my foundation to creating. But also constructing a safe and trusting environment for the actors and crew takes highest precedence. An atmosphere of enjoyable focus and supportive precaution is what I strive for. This is how I am able to try new methods of crafting my projects. I see more opportunities to learn than to succeed. I am always full from the experiences with my team. I believe you lose possession of a film to the audience after it’s released and that reminds me that the process selfless.
